Drinking Water Protection Plan

About the District’s Drinking Water Protection Plan
The District received funding from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's Clean Water State Revolving Fund to develop a Drinking Water Protection Plan. The Drinking Water Protection Plan will describe potential threats to the District’s water source, identify strategies to mitigate or eliminate these risks, and describe the District’s approach and timeline for implementing the strategies. Our water source is Beaver Creek.
The District assembled a team of local organizations, community members, and technical experts to help guide development of the Drinking Water Protection Plan. The District also held two public meetings to seek additional input from the community. The first public meeting held on January 14 discussed the planning process and risks to our drinking water source. The second public meeting held on April 29 discussed the Draft Drinking Water Protection Plan, including the proposed strategies and implementation plan to address risks to the District’s water source. Community members were invited to ask questions and provide feedback during and after the meetings.
The Final Draft Drinking Water Protection Plan will be presented to the District’s Board of Commissioners to seek approval to submit it to the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for review. Once approved by the Board of Commissioners, the District will submit the Final Draft Drinking Water Protection Plan to both agencies.
